Recent Alumni contribution
- A referral-job fair was organised in the month of March 2018 by Mr. Sungrityayan Khan, Business Development Manager, Extramarks Education Pvt. Ltd., in which B. Tech. students from our campus were placed.
- Our Alumni Mr. Gautham is regularly in touch with our placement coordinators about referring students on and off campus for final-year students.
- Many alumni are providing support by providing guest lectures, tech talks, placement referrals, etc.
The Alumni Meet of 2022 at SRMIST Vadapalani was a resounding success, drawing old students back to their alma mater to relive cherished memories and celebrate the bonds forged during their college years. Held at Hotel Ramada Plaza, Sardar Patel Road, Chennai, the event saw a capacity crowd of 122 alumni along with their companions, all eager to reconnect with old friends and pay homage to their alma mater.
Themed «Time to Reminisce, the event marked the third alumni meet of SRMIST Vadapalani, bringing together alumni from diverse disciplines such as electronics and communication engineering, mechanical Engineering and computer science engineering. The atmosphere was electric as former students reunited with classmates and faculty members, sharing anecdotes and experiences from their college days.
Mr. Tamogna Chakraborthi, who travelled all the way from Kolkata to attend the event, delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the importance of hunger for success and the strong foundation provided by SRMIST Vadapalani. His sentiments were echoed by other alumni, who credited their alma mater for shaping them into confident and successful individuals.
The event also featured entertainment segments that stirred nostalgia, allowing former students to dance and reminisce to the tunes of popular songs alongside current students.
Dr. C. V. Jayakumar, Dean CET, VDP, welcomed the gathering and provided a brief overview of the institution’s journey since its inception in 2009. Dr. Ravi Pachamoothoo, Pro-Chancellor (Admin), SRMIST, expressed his pleasure in witnessing the alumni’s continued involvement and wished them success in their future endeavours.
Ms. Harini Ravi, correspondent of SRM Valliammai Engineering College and SRM Arts and Science College, reflected on the pride of seeing former students thrive in their careers and fondly recalled the memories shared at the institution.
Mrs. Radha Ravindran, Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs, urged alumni to prioritise their careers while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Mr. R. Nandakumar, Director of Communications at SRMIST Vadapalani, encouraged alumni to strive towards becoming job creators rather than job seekers.
The highlight of the event was the release of the Alumni Souvenir, which showcased the contributions of alumni to their alma mater. A photoshoot with dignitaries added to the excitement, leaving former students delighted.
Dr. V Rajasekar, Head of Alumni Cell at SRMIST Vadapalani, extended heartfelt thanks to all attendees, bringing the event to a close with the national anthem. As the curtains fell, alumni departed with renewed connections, cherished memories, and a sense of pride in their alma mater.
On January 26th, 2018, the Vadapalani campus of SRMIST Vadapalani welcomed back its esteemed alumni for the 2nd Alumni Meet, a day filled with reminiscence, camaraderie, and aspirations for the future. The event was graced by the presence of the Dean of Engineering and Technology (E&T) along with the Heads of Departments (HoDs), who shared cherished memories with the alumni, fostering a sense of nostalgia and pride in their alma mater.
Mr. Khan, Secretary of the SRMIST Vadapalani Alumni Association, took the opportunity to express his vision of preparing students to be industry-ready through comprehensive training programs. Recognising the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry, he emphasised the need for practical skills and real-world- experience to succeed in today’s competitive environment.
Mr. Rajasekaran, President of the SRMIST Vadapalani Alumni Association, echoed Mr. Khan’s sentiments and readily pledged support for providing training and internships in the field of marketing and sales. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals underscores the strong bond between alumni and their alma mater, united in the pursuit of excellence.
Mr. Akilan, an alumnus from the 2016 batch and currently employed at Nissan in Chennai, shared valuable insights on the importance of smart work and adapting to the demands of a competitive environment. His pledge to train students reflects a spirit of generosity and mentorship that defines the SRMIST Alumni Community.
Amidst the lively discussions and exchange of ideas, the alumni took a moment to express their heartfelt gratitude to the faculty members for their tireless efforts in shaping the lives and careers of students. Their words of appreciation served as a reminder of the profound impact that educators have on the lives of their students, instilling values of knowledge, perseverance, and integrity.
