The SAE India collegiate club of SRMIST Vadapalani, Campus was started by a group of like-minded third year students from the department of Mechanical Engineering in 2011-2012. The club was formed with 110 members from the department of mechanical engineering. A decade since its inception the club has hosted several Intra and inter-college SAE events. The members of the club actively participate in national-level events organised by the SAE community across India. The college Kingpin racing team has also won several accolades in the Supra SAE event.
