The Mathematics Department at SRM Institute of Science and Technology Vadapalani, plays a vital role in guiding students through this journey and fostering a passion for mathematical exploration and application.The Department of Mathematics serves in all the way to lay a strong foundation in Mathematics and its applications for the students of B.Tech., M.Tech., MBA & Ph.D. The integration of mathematics into various disciplines such as engineering, business and technology is crucial for fostering a deep understanding of these fields.

The department of Mathematics has 11 faculty members. The highly qualified, experienced and motivated faculty to make sure the best education is at the students’ disposal. The department has been recognized as a research centre with 5 recognized Ph.D supervisors. 12 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. under the guidance of our faculty. The Department of Mathematics always contribute to the Mathematical community by organizing various events. The department organizes Conferences, Faculty Development Programmes, Workshops, Symposiums and Seminars every year.The department acts as a platform for the students to showcase their interest and talents in Mathematics by conducting workshops and competitions.

It is also the platform for events that are aimed at making mathematics fun to learn. The club conducts symposiums, special guest lectures and national level conferences(NCRTMA) every year. This club opens up new vistas for budding mathematicians to fly high, by winning laurels.

The Matrix Club 1729 Inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. J.Baskar Babujee, Professor, MIT, Anna University, on 17th of October 2023. It was a delightful and informative event that brought together students and faculty interested in mathematics. It served as a testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of the mathematical community of FET – SRMIST, Vadapalani Campus.

The MATRIX Club, hosted a guest lecture on February 1, 2024. The resource person for the event was Dr. Neelesh S Upadhye, Professor, Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, with approximately 200 students in attendance. Students from Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) specializing in Big Data Analytics, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) specializing in Data Science participated in the event.
